Reversible Blazer - 1940s American Army Twill & 1980s French Silk
Soft florals lend romance to the structure of this classic military jacket. This reversible piece was designed to play on contrasts: masculine and feminine, solid and patterned, tailored and soft. For a sartorial touch, fold the cuffs to nod to the duality of the fabrics, then pair with everything from skirts to dresses to trousers.
Fabric
1940s American army twill in an olive green, passed down from a soldier in the Signal Corps during World War II, who also served in World War I. His wife was a Carnegie librarian who worked for the Red Cross and made her husband's uniforms. This is her fabric. The reverse side of this blazer is a 1980s French floral silk twill from the Musée des ornements de la femme in Gaillard, France.
Buttons
1940s English metal buttons, made in England, from the brand "Crossed Swords".
