Delphia sizes accommodate a wider range of numeric sizes than normal brands. We design on a U.S. Size 6 and photograph our clothes on a U.S. Size 2. Labour

All Delphia garments are made in Houston, Texas by Sam and Madelynn, highly skilled seamstresses and pattern makers paid a fair wage and highly appreciated.

Environment

All Delphia materials, including fabrics and buttons, are museum-quality, vintage. No new materials are used in the making of Delphia garments.

To ensure a long life for your garment, there are several things you can do. First, clean only when necessary.

Second, when possible, consider alternatives to dry cleaning. Often times hanging a garment in a well-ventilated space will refresh it. Second, a press or a steam can also help to remove wrinkles and is preferable to dry cleaning. Third, hand washing a garment and laying it flat to dry will help preserve the fibers for years to come. Finally, a garment should only need to be dry cleaned sparingly. Dry cleaning isn’t optimal because of the chemicals used during the process, such as perchloroethylene. If you do need to dry clean your garment, there are many green dry cleaners that do not use “perc”.

No. We select museum-quality fabrics and buttons. True, 50-150 years can leave a few idiosyncrasies on the materials. But, they aren’t significant enough to amount to flaws. We wouldn’t offer the materials for sale if we didn’t believe they were archival quality and worth the effort. We make very few garments per month and we don’t like to waste anyone’s time.

They are no more fragile than any other luxury garment. Before any fabric is used in a Delphia garment, it goes through the washing machine, with the exception of heavy wools used for trench coats, which are hand washed. Similarly, all fabrics undergo significant stress when sewing.
