Sporting Tunic - 19th C. American Chambray & Silk
A roomy tunic made from 19th century American cotton chambray is cinched at the lower back, and on each sleeve, by 1920s buckles carved from American mother of pearl. The silhouette reclaims a once-ubiquitous preppy silhouette, worn by American dog handlers at field trials in the middle of the last century.
Fabric
Striped blue shirting fabric is a chambray from the 1800s, which was found in excellent condition in a building in north Philadelphia (on Frankford Avenue just south of Lehigh), wrapped in late 19th century newspapers, from an old seamstress’ shop. Green sleeves are vintage Thai silk.
Buttons
