Dress - 1980s French Silk Roses

An independent take on femininity - an asymmetric, sleeveless dress hitting at the knee in front, and mid-calf in back. A curved bust line seam with gentle pleats draws the eye up towards the collar and face. This silk dress buttons down the front and is suitable for outdoor meals at contemporary upscale restaurants.

Fabric

1980s French heavy silk twill in pink and red roses, with unique little touches of green and yellow, purchased as a de-accession from the Musée des ornements de la Femme in Faucigny, France.

Buttons

1910-20s mother of pearl buttons from 'La Mode' , dyed a soft lilac shade. La Mode buttons were made by B. Blumenthal and Co., an American manufacturer founded in 1877 by Benjamin Blumenthal with a factory on the Mississippi River.
